The Bussi Piero Winery is nestled in a sea of beautiful vineyard-covered hills between the Langhe and Monferrato, in the heart of a UNESCO World Heritage site.

Our company and our vineyards are located in Calosso, in the Castagna area, the last bastion of the Monferrato Astigiano overlooking the Langhe, just a few hundred meters away as the crow flies. Castagna is a place name already mentioned in land registers in 1758, with 40 hectares of single vineyards, where our vineyards are currently located.

Immediately after the end of the First World War, grandfather Agostino, born in 1900, abandoned his father Nicola's practice of selling all his grapes to retailers and began vinifying a small portion of Barbera grapes. At the time, the winery comprised approximately 1.5 hectares of vineyards, and when Germano Bussi took over in the 1960s, the number increased to four.
The turning point came in 1968, when Germano began vinifying Moscato grapes, a very demanding and laborious process considering the equipment of the time. The must obtained from hand-pressing was, after clarification, filtered with the famous "Dutch bags," a very slow and laborious process.
The results were immediate, and the desire to acquire additional vineyards grew, focusing primarily on Moscato and Barbera varieties.
Piero Bussi, third generation, gradually integrated the farm, currently run with his son Federico, owner since 2022. Today, the estate boasts 12 hectares of vineyards, focusing on product quality, first in the vineyard and then in the cellar.
These distinctive wines, a reflection of our terroir and respectful of nature, are now proudly exported to 15 countries across four continents.
Driven by a passion for history and a desire to discover his origins, in 2000, after 10 years of research, Piero Bussi published the landmark book "Gente di Calosso."
