Tenuta del Travale Description: Raffaella and Nicola Ciardullo began producing wine since 2018 from vineyards situated around their home on the outskirts of Cosenza. Travale sits on the foothills of the Sila Mountains which confer cooling nighttime breezes. At 520 meters, amidst steeply terraced slopes, interspersed by lavender and aromatic herbs Tenuta del Travale produces micro-productions of award-winning (Gambero Rosso- Vino Raro) red wine on its two hectares. Travale is guided by Oenologist Emiliano Falsini and agronomist Stefano Dini. Nerello Mascalese and Cappuccio is native to this, the Sila Region of Calabria, and Travale has thus re-appropriated them from Etna. It has earned the distinction of Italian Heroic Vineyard for the steepness of its sloped terraces and high altitude.
