ABOUT AZIENDA AGRICOLA MAGADDINO:

Magaddino is a small production family-owned and operated winery located in the heart of Castellammare del Golfo, a few kilometers from Segesta and the castle of Inici.  Fifty to one hundred thousand bottles are produced annually. Magaddino  has been handed down for 3 generations; from  grandfather Simone to father Angelo to grandson Simone and granddaughter MariAngela. Presently, Simone is viticulturalist and MariAngela is eonologist, with their father Angelo continuing to be very active. Over time their vineyard holdings have increased to 30 hectares of calcareous soils, roughly divided between Marsala and Castellamare del Golfo. Magaddino produces wine from indigenous grapes Nero d’Avola, Grillo, Cataratto, and Zibibo in their modernized cantina.  Drip irrigation is used as needed. Magaddino is EU organic certified.

MAGADDINO GRILLO: Pressing, cooling of grapes at 7 ° C, cryomaceration for 12 hours, soft pressing, fermentation at a controlled temperature of 12 °c. Four months in stainless steel.

A wine with a straw yellow colour with greenish reflections. It has a complex scent. Intense, with hints of exotic fruit of good structure. The palate is mineral and very persistent.

DOC controlled denomination of origin.

MAGADDINO ZIBIBO: Fermented with select yeast and matured in stainless steel at low temperature. Zibibo is produced without skin contact or MLF.

Sicily’s robust and aromatic interpretation of Moscato di Alessandria. Thought provoking on its own, but a good pairing with Asian cuisine. A pale but glowing lemon in the glass. An intense nose of peach, apricot and pineapple. In the mouth, light to medium bodied, with adequate acidity, flavors evolve from melon and passion fruit to mint and juniper. An entirely unique white wine experience.

MAGADDINO NERO D’ AVOLA:

Nero D' Avola with a classic vinification of the de-stemmed grapes. The colour is ruby red, characteristic scent of the grape with intense berry notes. Full flavour, velvety and persistent with hints of vanilla.
