ABOUT TERESA MINCIONE

— The Story —

Teresa Mincione, is a small, quality-driven estate based in Caiazzo, Campania, focused on indigenous varieties and precise, low-intervention winemaking. The wines are made from 100% historic local grapes valued for their structure, moderate aromatics, aging potential and the preservation of the Casertano wine heritage. The vineyards lie within the Terre del Volturno IGT, where warm days, cooler evenings, and mixed clay-limestone soils support full phenolic ripeness while retaining acidity. Teresa’s background was a wine journalist and lawyer, and she now applies her full-time efforts to making great wines that express the local terroir and heritage.

— The Wines —

  • La luna e il ventaglio translates as ‘the moon and the wind.’ This wine is made from 100% Pallagrello Bianco, an historic local grape valued for its structure, moderate aromatics, and aging potential. The vineyards lie within the Terre del Volturno IGT, where warm days, cooler evenings, and mixed clay-limestone soils support full phenolic ripeness while retaining acidity. Fruit is hand-harvested and fermented with careful temperature control to preserve varietal character, followed by aging primarily in stainless steel to emphasize freshness and site expression. Aromatically, the wine shows lemon peel, green apple, pear skin, and white flowers, with subtle herbal and mineral notes. On the palate it is medium-bodied with firm, well-integrated acidity and a slightly textured mouthfeel typical of Pallagrello Bianco. Flavors of citrus, orchard fruit, and faint almond are supported by a saline, mineral backbone. The finish is clean, dry, and persistent, with restrained fruit and a savory edge. Overall, this is a focused, terroir-expressive white that highlights Pallagrello Bianco’s balance of structure, freshness, and understated complexity.

  • Nulla e per caso translates as ‘nothing left to chance.’ This wine is 100% Casavecchia, an autochthonous red grape of Campania, grown in the Terre del Volturno IGT zone on vineyards trained mainly in traditional semipergola casertana. After hand harvesting, fermentation is carried out in stainless steel with indigenous yeasts and a focus on gentle extraction, followed by 12+ months of ageing in anfora (terracotta) before bottling to preserve varietal purity and moderate phenolics. The alcohol level sits around 13%, reflecting a restrained ripeness and contemporary stylistic intent. In the glass the wine shows a medium ruby color with slight purple hints, consistent with youthful Casavecchia. On the nose there is black cherry and plum core fruit supported by spice (pepper, licorice) and subtle undergrowth, with fine mineral accents. The palate is medium-bodied with moderate to firm, ripe tannins, balanced acidity and a savory, sapid finish, displaying both structure and drinkability. Overall the wine delivers a clean, defined fruit profile with measured complexity, reflective of its varietal character and Campanian terroir, making it suitable for medium-weight red meat, grilled vegetables, or aged cheeses.

  • Sabbia al Vento translates as ‘sands in the wind.’ This wine is 100% Pallagrello Nero, an autochthonous red grape of Campania, grown in the Terre del Volturno IGT zone, grown on the sandy soils of Vigna Monticelli. Teresa ages the wine in anfora. Sabbia al Vento presents a brilliant ruby red with purple highlights that capture the light. On the nose, aromas of ripe red fruits, sweet spices, and those mineral notes that speak of sand and wind, of a terroir that leaves its mark. On the palate, it is fresh and savory, with silky tannins that caress the palate. The finish is persistent and elegant, with fruity aftertaste and that characteristic saline note that recalls the sandy terroir.
